I had the honor of swearing in Tim Abbott for his second term on council and Jayson Frederick to his first term on council. It is always fun to be part of a swearing in of an elected official.
The agenda that was published had to be amended for a couple of last-minute items. We dislike doing that (and don't do it much) but the timing of a few items necessitated the amending.
The Council recognized Officer Connie Gage for apprehending a robbery suspect from Cartersville. Her efforts got the gas station that was robbed their $10,000 back!
The Council elected Councilman Greg Free as Mayor Pro Tem.
Our Project manager for the City of Euharlee resigned after the sudden passing of a family member. The Council hired John Winnenberg from Calm Water LLC to be our new project manager. Calm Water is the current contractor doing the work for Drowned Valley in building their brewery in downtown Euharlee and is a resident of the City of Euharlee.
The Council approved the purchase of a new Police vehicle to replace an aging vehicle in our fleet.
Public Comments:
Mr Jim Thibault wanted to make sure the Council was aware that Etowah Bend Subdivision is appealing the Council decision to not waive the environmental overlay on Milam Bridge Road property and appealing the Council decision to remain at RE1 instead of rezoning to R1.
The Council made him and the citizens aware that we had already hired lawyers to vigorously defend the 2 decisions made by Council. We had to hire outside council because our current zoning attorney is representing the plaintiff in this case. (Council could not give any more details as this is a pending case before the court.)
The next meeting will be a work session on January 16th at 7pm in the Council Chambers.
When the agenda for the work session is published, you can download it here:

It is an honor to serve you!
